Impact of Pollution on Urban Environments: Gujarat Situation
Abstract Urbanization, industrialization, ignorance, poor motor vehicle maintenance, and bad road conditions have all contributed to the steadily worsening environmental conditions in Indian cities. This urbanization and industrialization also occurred in a number of Gujarati cities. As a result, the urban and surrounding environment today affects the health of people, plants, and animals. This article discusses the situation and the many survey studies that were conducted in different Gujarati cities. Among these cities, Vapi and Ankleshwar are facing severe environmental problems. The amounts of harmful suspended particles and particulate matter in the urban environment have already surpassed the permissible limits in several locations. According to a CPCB evaluation, these two Gujarati cities rank in the top 10 most polluted in the country. It will be too late if GIDC doesn't take decisive action on these urgent problems. Cities like Ahmedabad, Vadodara, and Surat will soon experience the same detrimental effects of pollution. The ecology, health, and climate, as well as the social and personal wealth of city dwellers, will surely suffer as a result of these alarming statistics. Therefore, in order to keep our communities from being polluted, it is essential that environmental regulations and suitable abatement techniques be rigorously followed.
