Voices in the Shadows-Unveiling Racialised Bullying and Discrimination in Nursing Education
This academic research poster presents preliminary findings from a doctoral study exploring the lived experiences of ethnically minoritised student nurses navigating racialised bullying and discrimination across nursing education and clinical placements in the UK. Rooted in critical autoethnography, the study draws on the researcher’s lived experiences as a nurse, student, educator, and academic to examine how institutional power, colonial legacies, and structural inequalities shape exclusion within nursing education. The poster highlights emerging themes around marginality, microaggressions, performative inclusion, and decolonising the nursing curriculum. By centring the voices of minoritised nurses as evidence rather than anecdote, the research challenges institutions to move beyond tokenistic approaches and towards sustained anti-racist transformation in nursing education and practice. Keywords: Nursing education, racialised bullying, discrimination, minoritised students, decolonising curriculum, intersectionality, inclusivity, diversity, anti-racism, healthcare education.
