CRITICAL DAMPING OF SOUND WAVE IN A FLUID DUE TO THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY IN THE ACOUSTIC APPROXIMATION: THE KIRCHHOFF-DAMPING
When sound propagates through fluid, it is observed that it gets attenuated due to different factors. In this communication, we shall discuss the attenuation of sound wave, triggered by thermal conductivity. Through detailed calculation, we shall show that near the critical point such attenuation of sound wave due to thermal conductivity is practically negligible.
