Drug Peace in Mexico: Analyzing Government Complicity and the Erosion of the Rule of Law
This essay analyzes the phenomenon of "narco peace" in Mexico, an apparent decrease in violence resulting from pacts between organized crime and corrupt elements of the state, which erodes the rule of law and national sovereignty. Through the study of two paradigmatic cases—Genaro García Luna at the federal level and Hernán Bermúdez Requena in Tabasco—it demonstrates how this complicity generates a precarious and artificial stability.
