Editorial
Scientific communication in the social sciences has for centuries been the norm mainly among academia as a means of critically reviewing and addressing social, economic, and political issues that impact have a profound impact on the wider public. As a result, both the producers and consumers of knowledge have been benefitting from scientific publications, the former critically examining experiences by building on existing research, the latter making use of such knowledge for the betterment of lives and livelihoods and to influence policy and practice. In this endeavor, Ityopis–the Northeast African Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities–has, for over a decade, been contributing its fair share as a scientific journal by publishing research articles mainly focusing on such issues as heritage, archeology, communication, and language studies, among others.
