THE MEDIATING ROLE OF JOB SATISFACTION IN THE EFFECT OF POSITIVE PSYCHOLOGICAL CAPITAL ON EMPLOYEE PERFORMANCE: THE CASE OF PUBLIC EMPLOYEES
In today’s public sector, organizations are expected to adopt a sustainable management approach, improve service quality, and achieve high efficiency. The fundamental condition for creating this distinction lies in the change and development of human capital. Positive psychological capital, which focuses on measurable and developable individual traits, is defined as an individual’s capacity to demonstrate resilience in the face of challenges and regulate oneself with selfawareness. In the delivery of public services, the psychological state of public employees, along with their attitudes and behaviors toward their work, is gaining increasing significance in enhancing efficiency and service quality public services. Accordingly, this study aims to examine the mediating role of job satisfaction in the effect of positive psychological capital on employee performance, using public employees as the sample group. A convenience sampling method was employed, and data were collected through a survey administered to 373 public employees working in institutions located within the Osmaniye Governorship Complex. The study utilized confirmatory factor analysis, reliability analysis, Pearson correlation analysis, and mediation analysis using Hayes’ Process Macro Model 4. The findings indicate that job satisfaction has a mediating role in the effect of public employees’ levels of positive psychological capital on their performance.
