FROM FARM TO FOREIGN MARKETS: SUSTAINABILITY'S ROLE IN AGRI-EXPORT PERFORMANCE

Sustainability is increasingly becoming a key requirement in agricultural exports due to growing environmental concerns and evolving international regulations. This conceptual paper explores how sustainable supply chain practices-such as eco-friendly sourcing, green production, recyclable packaging, clean transportation and certifications-can enhance the export performance of agricultural firms. By using the Resource-Based View (RBV) and Institutional Theory, the study proposes a framework showing how these improve operational efficiency, which in turn drives export growth. It also considers external factors like firm size, product type, and market regulations that may influence the outcome. The paper highlights the need for policy support, infrastructure development and future empirical research to validate the proposed framework. This conceptual study develops a theoretical model to explain how sustainable practices enhance agri-export performance, guided by Resource-Based View and Institutional Theory
