Butterfly Glioblastoma: A Bihemispheric Infiltrative Malignancy with Distinctive Clinicopathological and Radiological Features
ABSTRACT: Butterfly glioblastoma (bGBM) represents a particularly aggressive subtype of glioblastoma multiforme, characterized by tumor infiltration across the corpus callosum, creating a bihemispheric spread reminiscent of a butterfly’s wings on radiographic imaging. This review explores in detail the clinical, radiological, and pathological characteristics of bGBM. Emphasis is placed on the diagnostic complexities, imaging hallmarks, therapeutic limitations, and prognostic implications of this unique malignancy. The article aims to consolidate current knowledge from a wide range of peer-reviewed sources, providing a comprehensive perspective for clinical practice and academic inquiry.
