The Secret of Life — The Substrate: An Information-Theoretic Recursion
We propose that (i) information is the fundamental substrate of reality; (ii) spacetime and matter emerge from patterns of quantum entanglement that implement quantum error-correcting codes; (iii) conscious experience functions as an embedded agent’s rendering interface; and (iv) cosmological dynamics tend toward heat death within a cycle while the substrate supports recursion—low-entropy beginnings seeded from high-entropy endings. We synthesize evidence from black-hole thermodynamics, holography (AdS/CFT), entanglement/geometry relations, quantum error correction, computational thermodynamics, and cosmology, and propose testable sub-claims (e.g., Page-curve universality, complexity–geometry links). The recursion step is conjectural but constrained by information conservation. We outline experiments and observations that could strengthen or falsify the framework.
