Meso- and metanotum yellowish brown with some dark brown markings, covered with many yellow setae. Legs. Long and slender, yellow, covered with short setae. Tibia nearly twice as long as femur; tarsomere 1 relatively longer, nearly as long as entire length of tarsomeres 2–4; pretarsal claws curved. Metatibia longer than that of fore- and midlegs. Wings. Ovoid, hyaline, with dense setae. Pterostigma dark brown alternating with pale. Fore wing gradate series area to apex with few dots, distal M with indistinct markings; costal space broad basally, subcostal veinlets basally connected by some short oblique crossveins; RP with 18–19 branches; crossveins among RP branches numerous, irregularly spaced; two distinct gradate series present; CuP with some crossveins; A1 and A2, with pectinate branches and crossveins. Hind wing without marking; subcostal veinlets without interlinked crossvein. Abdomen. Dark brown, covered with yellowish-brown setae. Male genitalia (Figure 10D, E): Tergum 8 long; scent gland large and ovoid; callus cerci relatively large and ovoid. Tergum 9 with a triangular or subuliform process, 1.3–1.5 times as long as width. Gonocoxites 9 slightly sclerotised distally, with two pairs of tubercles, anterior pair larger than posterior pair, digitiform, posterior pair subtriangular in lateral view; in ventral view not forming structure; gonocoxites 10 (Figure 14I) curved approximate right angle. Ectoproct nearly triangular. Female genitalia (Figure 10F, G): Sternum 7 with three distinct processes; anterior branch of tergum 9 short and broad, distally concave; in ventral view anterior angle of gonocoxite 9 subtriangular. Spermatheca rounded (Figure 14Q). Type material Holotype, without local information and genitalia. Material examined CHINA: 1♂ 1♀, Zhejiang, Hangzhou, Mt. Tianmu [天目山], 1153 m, 27 June 2018, leg. Yingnan He (CAU). 1♂, Zhejiang, Hangzhou, Mt. Tianmu [天目山], 25 July 2017, leg. Yandong Chen, Yixiang Zhang (CAU); 1♂, Hubei, Shennongjia Forestry District, Flying swallow scene [天燕景区], Guochuanwan [锅船湾], 1768 m, 8 July 2022. leg. Remarks Osmylus zheanus and O. qinlinganus sp. n. appear to be closely related and both species can be easily distinguished from all other species in O. hyalinatus species group by the presence of three processes on female sternum 7. See Remarks of O. qinlinganus sp. n. for the difference between O. zheanus and O. qinlinganus sp. n.
