The confounded interdependencies of ecosystem stability measures: a critique of "Unifying spatial scaling laws of biodiversity and ecosystem stability" by Liang et al.
This is a re-analysis of a recent article published in Science by Liang et al. 2025 which shows how ecosystem stability has a relationship with species-area relationships which can be decomposed in species stability and asynchrony. The equations used to generate their analyses are confounded and their purported results can be reproduced with random data.
