Multi-service and other recent advancements of the OpenIDN-laser-DAC-framework
The OpenIDN-Laser-DAC-Framework (short: OpenIDN) is a set of software modules to receive IDN (ILDA Digital Network) laser data streams on the local network and interface to a laser DAC (Digital to Analogue Converter) for laser projection output. The first version of OpenIDN was introduced and demonstrated at the NetSys 2023 conference in Potsdam, Germany. Since then, the source code of the project has been published open source on gitlab.com and a multi-service mode has been introduced, which allows one instance of OpenIDN to serve several DACs with output to several laser projectors. The 2025 NetSys demo will present those updates, with a focus on a newly developed DAC controlled via serial peripheral interface (SPI) and a demonstration of the multi-service mode with several DACs.
