Hydrolyzed Sugarcane Silage in Beef Cattle Farming: Zootechnical Efficiency and Slaughter Time Reduction in Mato Grosso do Sul

Beef cattle farming in Mato Grosso do Sul has experienced significant transformations with the implementation of innovative animal feeding technologies, highlighting the use of hydrolyzed sugarcane silage as a strategic nutritional alternative. This systematic literature review analyzes the zootechnical efficiency and impacts on slaughter time reduction provided by the pioneering implementation of this technology in the state. The methodology involved systematic search in scientific databases, analysis of government documents and evaluation of field data from rural properties in Mato Grosso do Sul. Results demonstrate that hydrolyzed sugarcane with .% calcium hydroxide maintains productive performance similar to fresh sugarcane, with weight gains of . kg/day in Nelore cattle, representing adequate zootechnical efficiency for intensive production systems. The Precoce MS Program evidences the practical application of this technology, resulting in an average reduction of months in slaughter time (from to . months), impacting , registered rural establishments and moving R$ million in government incentives. Economic analysis reveals improvement in feed conversion and reduction of operational costs, while environmental benefits include significant decrease in methane emissions, contributing to the state goal of carbon neutrality by . Feed innovation based on alkaline hydrolysis of sugarcane represents consolidated technological advancement, with proven applicability in different production systems and replication potential in other Brazilian regions. It is concluded that hydrolyzed sugarcane silage constitutes effective technology for sustainable intensification of beef cattle farming, simultaneously promoting productive efficiency, economic viability and environmental responsibility.
