NEUROMAT Transistors biomorphic switching in soft matter with hybrid transport
“NEUROMAT Transistors: biomorphic switching in soft matter with hybrid transport” is an original technical work that formulates a new framework for soft tri-terminal devices (NEUROMAT-F/M/D) capable of switching and storing state with zero standby power. The active channel is a soft medium (hydrogel/polymer/colloid) containing magnetic inclusions and auxiliary nanoparticles. Operation is not based on direct tunneling, but on the integration of four verifiable physical contributions in soft matter:(i) hopping between localized states (Arrhenius/VRH regimes);(ii) islands with a charging-energy threshold (E_c = e^2/(2C_Sigma); V_th ≈ e/C_Sigma);(iii) ionic conduction and electrochemical coupling (Poisson–Nernst–Planck, Debye length lambda_D);(iv) magnetic polarization from ferromagnetic electrodes and the applied field. The OFF→ON transition is explained by percolation (kappa, κ) upon exceeding the critical threshold p_c, and retention derives from the medium’s viscoelasticity (tau_M = eta/E) and magnetic blocking (KV), reinforced by electrode remanence when present. The manuscript develops a unified constitutive law (sigma_eff = sigma_hop + sigma_seq + sigma_ion + sigma_pol), figures of merit (ON/OFF, g_MB, SNR, V_th), 2D/3D scalability, crosstalk and thermal limits, together with a validation protocol including success/refutation criteria (I–V, sigma(T), EIS, dependence on B, I and pH). Potential applications are outlined (soft bioelectronics, in-matter neuromorphic, sensors with memory, smart materials) along with a TRL roadmap. Scope: theoretical and falsifiable work; it contains no experimental results and does not disclose detailed industrial processes.
