Competing Risks Survival Analysis in Cardiovascular and Cancer Research
Life tables and survival analysis represent essential statistical methodologies that have been extensively applied across diverse fields of research, particularly within medicine and clinical studies. These techniques allow for the estimation of survival probabilities over time and enable the evaluation of the influence of covariates on survival outcomes. This paper demonstrates the practical utility of both life tables and Kaplan–Meier survival analysis in social science research, with special attention to their effectiveness in handling censored data and their accessibility through the SPSS statistical software package. Furthermore, it outlines the theoretical foundations, key applications, and advantages of these approaches for analyzing time-to-event data. Illustrative examples are provided, focusing on medical conditions such as brain tumors, liver cancer, and lung cancer. The study concludes by emphasizing the critical role of life tables and survival analysis in medical research, underscoring their contribution to understanding survival rates and assessing treatment efficacy.
