Evaluación de competencias de comunicación escrita y oral en la Facultad de Ingeniería Química (UNL)
: Communicative competence, considered within the generic competencies, refers to the skills that people develop according to the language rules of each language. Competence in written and oral communication includes a set of abilities, skills and knowledge that a person possesses to express him/herself in different social environments. The importance of this competence is fundamental for students throughout their academic life. The objective of this work is to evaluate, through the application of rubrics in seminars, the construction and improvement of effective communication skills. The study was developed during two semesters of the years 2022 and 2023, in which the subject Plant and Soil Chemistry is taught at the Faculty of Chemical Engineering. Two seminars per term were analyzed, the first one on soil erosion at the beginning of the course and the second one on fertilizers at the end of the term, which were evaluated by means of rubrics. These were elaborated considering skills or criteria estimated through achievement expectations. During the two years of study, it was observed that students managed to improve their written and oral skills in the second seminar with respect to the first one. These results show the need to encourage the learning of writing and oral skills as necessary competencies in the profile of the future professional. As indicated by the Federal Council of Engineering Deans, in addition to building the specific knowledge of each subject, the type of communication inherent to the discipline must also be identified and mastered.
