San Luis Potosí as a model of urban habitability in Mexico: Multidimensional analysis from the right to the city
This study presents a multidimensional analysis of urban habitability in the San Luis Potosí Metropolitan Area (ZMSP), Mexico, framed within the critical concepts of the right to the city and spatial justice. Using a documentary and secondary data analysis methodology, it examines five key pillars: economic dynamics, cultural heritage, natural environment, urban services, and security and governance. The findings reveal a city of dualities—economic growth vs. environmental sustainability, cultural capital vs. development pressures—positioning it as a prototype of contemporary Mexican urban development. The study concludes with strategic recommendations for transitioning towards a more integrated, polycentric, and inclusive metropolitan model.
