Recyclify: Interactive Learning for Future-Ready Green Competencies

This project introduces Go Green Now, a mobile application driven by AI that aims to improve recycling education and awareness, especially among young people. The tool combines interactive game-based learning and machine learning to create an engaging and efficient user experience, drawing inspiration from the limitations of passive recycling information platforms. The app uses TensorFlow Lite to identify materials and provide real-time disposal guidance based on local recycling regulations. Users can upload or scan images of household waste. To aid in knowledge retention and behavior modification, the platform also features gamified learning modules, progress tracking, and visual feedback. The system was created using Agile methodology, refined iteratively through user-centered design, and evaluated to determine its impact on education. Results show that after using the prototype, user confidence and recycling accuracy significantly increased. Go Green Now distinguishes itself from competing solutions by providing a comprehensive set of AI identification, gamification, and tailored feedback. In line with SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, the project shows how technology and education can be used to encourage sustainable behavior. More extensive AI recognition capabilities, multilingual support, and collaborations with academic institutions for practical implementation and long-term impact assessment are all examples of future developments.
