Matsumurasca (Solanasca) Ghauri 1974

Subgenus Matsumurasca (Solanasca) Ghauri, 1974 Type species. Empoasca (Empoasca) solana (DeLong, 1931): 50. Distribution in the New World. Canada, USA, Mexico, Cuba, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Trinidad and Tobago, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Venezuela, Peru, Brazil, Bolivia, and Argentina (Fig. 1). Remarks. The subgenus was recovered as monophyletic by Xu et al. (2021), and diagnostic characters supporting status were: (1) forewing veins R2 and RM confluent at least for a short distance preapically, (2) sternite VIII of males truncate or produced, (3) pygofer without basolateral setal group, (4) ventral pygofer appendage present, (5) male subgenital plate well-developed basolateral lamella with a basal group of well-differentiated fine setae, (6) basal process of anal tube well-developed, aedeagus well-sclerotized, (7) preatrium usually as long as or longer than shaft and with paired basal processes.
