Sperchon brevirostris Koenike, 1895 - complex Distribution: Europe, islands of Atlantic and norther seas. Published records: Montenegro: Pešić et al. (2021a); North Macedonia: Pešić et al. (2021b) BINs: BOLD:ACP6107, BOLD:AED3857. BIN distribution: BOLD:AED3857 (Montenegro, North Macedonia); BOLD:AED3857 (Germany, Montenegro, Norway). Remarks: Recently Pešić et al. (2025b) showed that S. brevirostris populations include several distinctly diverging clusters, indicating the need for molecular and morphological re-definition of this species.
