Lean Construction as a Tool for Affordable Housing Development in the United States
This paper examines the application of Lean Construction methodologies to address the affordable housing shortage in the United States. Drawing on case studies from more than 50 projects in Brazil, it demonstrates how Lean principles reduce costs, accelerate project delivery, and improve quality without compromising safety. The study connects international best practices with U.S. federal housing priorities, such as the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and the Inflation Reduction Act, highlighting Lean Construction as a strategic solution for sustainable and cost-efficient housing development.
