A Review of Role of Social Media in Tourism Marketing

Abstract The study demonstrated social media's value to tourist businesses and the degree of product patronage it generates. To characterise the perspectives of social media and tourism, research has been done using data gathered from the tourist department. Regardless of the level of service at a specific tourist destination, social media is a tool for marketing travel, and the smallest favourable review or suggestions can have a big impact on the business, according to the results of a simple analysis used to assess the observations gathered. Through websites, short messages in emails, forums, and other channels, social media enables businesses to communicate with target audiences more quickly and directly without having to spend a lot of money on tourism service advertising. They provide consumers access to an infinite number of online venues that improve and expand knowledge sharing. They provide the simple movement of electronic information in general, including text, images, audio, and video. Google, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, blogging, Linkedin, Flickr, Whatsapp, Wechat, Badoo, Quantcast, and so on are examples of social media platforms. These communication channels have grown significantly in the last several years, and as they do, so too does the significance of using them as management and marketing tools for companies, particularly the travel and tourism sector, which has historically relied heavily on word-of-mouth, destination popularity, and other print media.
