The Potential of Solution Plasma Technique for Synthesis of Nanoparticles and Polymer Degradation Process

Abstract. Plasma applications are extensively used as very kind of processes to be used in material sciences and technologies. Gas-phase plasma and solid-phase plasma have been evolved and utilized many technological benefits such as coating, production of electronic devices, surface treatment and synthesis of nanomaterials. On the other hand, the solution plasma technique currently has been investigated for potential applications in plasma physics. Despite the fact that the detail structure of the solution plasma technique is not well known at present, it has been demonstrated as a versatile process with high performance for nanoparticle synthesis, sterilization, water purification and organic compound decomposition. For the duration of discharge, solution plasma generates various kind of active species and UV radiation. During solution plasma process, these generated active radicals are used as the source of chemical reactions such as initiation of reduction process, oxidation and degradation of organic molecules. SPT has emerged as a great prospect for the synthesis of nanomaterials and degradation of polymers due to its advantages such as no presence of toxic substances, low temperature, and having economical - simple systems. In this presentation, the studies about the production of metallic nanoparticles and polymer degradation by SPT will be discussed.
