The role of BaO on optical properties and gamma ray shielding efficiency of borosilicate Glass
In this work the gamma-ray shielding efficiency of barium oxide (BaO)-doped borate-based glass systems with the composition [5SiO₂ – (84−x) B₂O₃ – 10Na₂O – 1Al₂O₃ – (x)BaO], where x = 0, 20, and 40 mol% is examined. The manufactured glass samples were subjected to gamma ray from standard 137Cs, 60Co, and 22Na point sources, with energy levels of 0.662, 1.173, 1.275, and 1.333 MeV, and were measured using a NaI (Tl) scintillation detector.
