New Education Policy 2020 and the New Roles and Responsibilities of College Libraries in Arts, Commerce, and Science Colleges
Abstract The New Education Policy (NEP) 2020 marks a transformative shift in India’s educational landscape, advocating for a multidisciplinary, flexible, and holistic approach to learning. In this evolving context, college libraries—especially in Arts, Commerce, and Science institutions—must transition from traditional support units to dynamic academic partners. This research explores the significant redefinition of college libraries' roles, responsibilities, and strategies in aligning with NEP 2020. It outlines the emerging demands placed on library infrastructure, services, and staff, while also presenting practical recommendations to maximize the library's contribution in a NEP-aligned education system.
