Online Building Energy and Heat Index Simulation and Optimization BESOO v511
Online Building Energy Simulation and Optimization (BESOO) is a system of online internet programs that calculates temperatures, energy, and other parameters for various cases and conditions based on input values. The current version is for ambient temperature, relative humidity, and solar radiation in Jerusalem and in Tel Aviv. Jerusalem has lower humidity and colder winter. Tel Aviv has moderate temperatures but higher humidity. This version is dedicated to calculations of room air temperature and Heat Index without space heating and air conditioning. The program allows selection of building orientation every 22.5 degrees. It calculates air humidity discomfort temperature equivalent (Heat Index), temperatures of the outside wall layers, room air temperature, optional ventilation, and the number of hours per year with comfort temperature in the apartment. The calculations are for various building designs. In addition, the program calculates Thermal Time Constant, TTC, based on the input data. The program may be useful for selection of optimum building design, like the location and thickness of insulation and thermal mass of the concrete layer. The online internet program according to this work is available on nowagreen.com/BESO (free, no login required).
