Validación de un Instrumento de Evaluación sobre el Conocimiento de Testículo no Descendido en Médicos Residentes en el Hospital General De Zona y Medicina Familiar No.1 Pachuca Hgo
Undescended testis (UDT) is one of the most common congenital anomalies in pediatric patients, with an incidence of 5% in full term newborns and up to 45% in preterm newborns. Early detection and referral are essential to prevent complications such as tumor development and subfertility or infertility. The objective of this study was to validate an instrument designed to assess knowledge about UDT among medical residents in secondary-level hospital. An analytical, prospective and longitudinal study was conducted. A 15-item questionnaire was developed and subjected to validation using the Delphi technique with nine experts. Internal consistency was estimated using Cronbach´s Alpha coefficient, intra and inter-rater agreement were assessed using Kendall´s W and Fleiss´ Kappa coefficient, respectively. The instrument achieved a Cronbach´s Alpha greater than 0.85, while intra-rater agreement was moderate to strong with a Kappa value ranging from 0.458 to 0.619. During the validation process, three items were removed due to low relevance. In conclusion, the validated instrument proved to be reliable and appropriate for evaluating medical knowledge on UDT and represents a useful tool to strengthen clinical training in the management of this condition.
