Prevalencia de Depresión en Pacientes con Enfermedad Renal Crónica Estadio V en el HGZ con MF No.1, Pachuca Hidalgo
Introduction: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) stage V represents a terminal phase with significant biopsychosocial impact. Depression is a common but underdiagnosed comorbidity that affects treatment adherence, quality of life, and clinical outcomes. Objective: To determine the prevalence of depression in patients with stage V CKD and its relationship with the type of renal replacement therapy at the General Zone Hospital with Family Medicine No. 1, in Pachuca, Hidalgo. Method: Observational, analytical, cross-sectional, and retrospective study with 116 patients. The Beck Depression Inventory was applied. Sociodemographic and clinical variables were analyzed. Results: 46.2% of the patients presented some degree of depression. Most cases were classified as mild depression (25.86%). No statistically significant association was found between the type of treatment (hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis) and the presence of depression. Conclusion: The prevalence of depression is high in patients with stage V CKD, with mild forms being the most frequent. The type of replacement therapy was not a determining factor. A comprehensive and individualized approach to mental health is suggested.
