Primeras Damas del Perú en la Prensa: Construcción de representaciones sociales en El Comercio, La República y El Peruano (1990-2022)

This article focused on analyzing the construction of representations by the national press regarding the work of five first ladies of the Nation: Susana Higuchi, Keiko Fujimori, Eliane Karp, Nadine Heredia, and Lidia Paredes. Based on the analysis of 79 articles published in the newspapers El Comercio, La República, and El Peruano, political, social, ideological, and cultural factors that influenced the construction of social representations in the national press discourse were identified. The results show that the media have projected representations that tend to relegate first ladies to traditional and domestic roles, despite the evolution in the functions assigned to first ladies over time.
