Grado de Disfunción Eréctil y de Funcionalidad en el Sub-Sistema Conyugal del Paciente Diabético de 40-75 Años en el Hospital General De Zona N° 2 Con Medicina Familiar Salina Cruz
Erectile dysfunction is one of the most frequent complications in men with type 2 diabetes mellitus, affecting not only their sexual health but also the emotional and functional dynamics within the conjugal subsystem. This condition, associated with vasculoneural and endocrine alterations typical of diabetes, can have significant repercussions on the quality of life of both the patient and their partner. This study aimed to determine the degree of erectile dysfunction and the level of conjugal functionality in male patients aged 40 to 75 diagnosed with type 2 diabetes mellitus, enrolled in the CADIMSS program at the General Hospital of Zone No. 2 with Family Medicine in Salina Cruz, Oaxaca. A descriptive, cross-sectional, and observational study was conducted with a sample of 83 participants. Two hetero-applicable scales were used: the International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF) and the Chávez Aguilar questionnaire to assess the functionality of the conjugal subsystem. The results showed that 54.2% of the patients presented some degree of erectile dysfunction, with the moderate type being the most frequent (50.6%), and that 78% maintained adequate conjugal functionality, especially those with better metabolic control according to their HbA1c levels. A statistically significant association was found between glycemic control, the presence of erectile dysfunction, and the level of conjugal functionality, highlighting the importance of addressing both sexual and emotional health in diabetic patients as part of a comprehensive primary care approach.
