Problems Faced By Shg Members In Marketing Their Products Of Income Generating Activities: A Study With Reference To Dakshina Kannada District, Karnataka State
Abstract: Over the past three decades microfinance has brought about revolutionary changes in the Indian economy. It has brought a ray of hope for weaker sections of the society who are not able to obtain formal bank loans. Microfinance is being channelised by banks through Self Help Groups (SHGs) with the purpose of encouraging the members to use the same for productive purpose. There has been growing involvement of women in Self Help Groups, through which they are able to borrow microfinance for undertaking Income Generating Activities to earn their livelihood. This paper makes an attempt to study different IGAs undertaken by SHG members promoted under Vimukthi Rural Development Programme and throws light on problems faced by them in marketing their products obtained from IGAs. The study has identified a few problems relating to marketing of the products obtained in IGAs and assessed to know their severity.
