The ‘UX Factors’: Gamified Measuring and Advancing UX Team Maturity
User experience (UX) maturity models are known and accepted. They work well to evaluate companies but overlook variability in UX practices across individual teams. Moreover, UX professionals repeatedly face challenges to help their teams to improve both UX processes and the quality of developed features. This paper and its belonging conference workshop introduce “UX Factors”, a practical and gamified tool to assess and enhance UX maturity at the team level. The approach addresses common hurdles by combining reliability (based on the Kano model), engagement (card game style), practicality (24 process, 7 product UX factors), and measurability (scoring scale). It also fosters involvement of key stakeholders: product owners, project leads, and engineers. For each UX factor, the tool offers evaluation criteria and actionable improvement methods. In the interactive workshop, participants will explore the tool in small groups, apply it to realistic scenarios, and exchange insights on its application and impact.
