Personal Branding and Reputation Management
This study explores the growing importance of personal branding as a strategic tool for effective reputation management in the digital era. The rationale for this study stems from the increasing necessity for individuals to differentiate themselves in a competitive environment where digital footprints significantly influence public perception. The main objective of this study is to examine the relationship between personal branding and reputation management, highlighting the role of authenticity and consistency in building and maintaining a positive personal and professional image. Grounded in social identity theory and signalling theory, the study provides a theoretical framework to understand how individuals can craft and communicate their personal brands to influence their reputation. The methodology adopted is a library research method, which involves a comprehensive review of existing literature, including academic articles, books and case studies. Key arguments presented in this study suggest that while personal branding offers a powerful means of shaping public perception, it also presents challenges in maintaining authenticity and consistency, especially in the fast-paced digital landscape. The study concludes that a strategic approach to personal branding is essential for effective reputation management and recommends that individuals invest in developing a coherent and authentic brand across all platforms. Organisations are also encouraged to support their employees' personal branding efforts, as this can enhance both individual and corporate reputations. Keywords: Personal Branding, Reputation Management, Digital Identity, Strategic Communication, Public Perception.
