Digital Rights and Data Privacy for Youth in the Age of AI: A Multidisciplinary Perspective

Abstract Digital platforms have become a vital part of young people's lives in the era of artificial intelligence (AI), influencing their entertainment, social connections, and education. AI raises significant questions about data privacy, monitoring, permission, and discrimination, especially for children and adolescents, even while technology also presents prospects for efficiency and customisation. This study examines how international legal frameworks are changing—or not—to safeguard children on AI-powered platforms like social media and educational technology. It looks at important issues such algorithmic bias, the complexity of digital consent, inadequate enforcement, and jurisdictional ambiguity. Lastly, it offers creative cross-sector solutions that combine education, technology, and legislation to better protect young people's digital rights in a quickly changing digital landscape.
