RANCANG BANGUN DAN PENGUJIAN ALAT ANGKUT TBS UNTUK PETANI SAWIT
Palm oil is one of Indonesia’s leading plantation commodities, contributing significantly to the national economy, particularly through crude palm oil (CPO) exports. However, the efficiency of transporting Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB) from plantations to collection points remains a major challenge, especially for smallholder farmers. This study aims to design, fabricate, and evaluate the performance of an FFB transport device to improve the productivity and efficiency of harvesting activities. The research adopts an experimental design and fabrication method, starting from field requirement analysis, technical calculations, and 3D modeling using Fusion 360, followed by prototype assembly using mild steel materials. The prototype was designed with a maximum load capacity of 200 kg or approximately 10 FFB per transport cycle. Performance tests were conducted under three load conditions: no load, medium load (5 FFB) and maximum load (10 FFB). The results showed that the tool performed efficiently and stably under medium loads, demonstrating good maneuverability and time-saving potential in uneven terrains. Under maximum load, the device experienced front-end lifting due to unbalanced weight distribution and insufficient motor torque. Nevertheless, the structural integrity of the frame remained intact without any deformation, confirming its mechanical reliability. This research concludes that a simple mechanical transport tool has the potential to enhance smallholder FFB handling, provided that improvements are made in the drive system and load balancing. The developed design represents an appropriate technological solution to address post-harvest challenges and support the operational efficiency of rural palm oil farming.
