Specific Protein and Immunological Markers in Children with Cerebral Palsy
The study analyzes specific serum proteins and immunological parameters in children with cerebral palsy (CP). Concentrations of the neuro-specific protein S100 and immunoglobulins (IgA, IgM, IgG, including subclasses) were measured. CP patients demonstrated significantly lower serum levels of S100 compared to healthy controls, with an inverse correlation to age and severity of motor impairment (GMFCS scale). Additionally, differences between genders were observed in IgM levels, and S100 concentrations were higher in children with severe neurological deficits. These findings indicate the potential role of S100 and immune markers as diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers in CP.
