Cuidador Familiar y sus Competencias del Cuidado en el Hogar: Un Caso de Enfermería
Introduction: Due to the caregiver's role in caring for their family member, the burden of care increases, and the family member may develop complications that negatively impact their quality of life. The nursing profession can intervene in preventing and reducing the burden on family caregivers by implementing a Nursing Care Process. Objective: To design a nursing care process for a family caregiver participating in a program within the Chronic Disease Self-Management Thematic Network at the Autonomous University of Tamaulipas, Mexico, and to describe home care competency. Methodology: A case study based on the nursing process methodology, supported by the Nola Pender Model of health promotion and the "CUIDAR" instrument to assess care competency. The standardized language used was NANDA I, NOC, and NIC to identify potential alterations within the biopsychosocial-spiritual spheres. Final evaluation: As a result of the nursing interventions implemented with the family caregiver, a moderate change in their lifestyle was observed. Conclusions: The application of the Nursing Care Process, focusing on the Nola Pender assessment, benefits the identification of compromised human responses and the comprehensive approach to physical, social, psychological, and spiritual problems through the implementation of structured care plans.
