Estrategias pedagógicas para la conservación de árboles nativos en el Centro Educativo Norean: una propuesta de educación ambiental
The objective of this research was to design and implement an environmental pedagogical strategy aimed at promoting the conservation of native trees at the Norean Educational Center in the department of Cesar, Colombia. For this purpose, a mixed-method approach was used, combining descriptive and participatory techniques, including local biodiversity assessments, environmental awareness surveys, and practical pedagogical activities. The results highlighted a low diversity of tree species, particularly emphasizing Otiti (Licania Tomentosa), Mango (Mangifera), and Maíz Tostao (Coccoloba Acuminata), alongside limited student awareness regarding their ecological importance. Additionally, a general lack of sustainable practices and an initially low level of interest in environmental conservation activities were identified. In response to these findings, the pedagogical strategy "Seeds of Change" was implemented, consisting of educational workshops, ecological excursions, the establishment of a school nursery, and community reforestation events. These interventions significantly enhanced environmental awareness, improved everyday sustainable practices, and fostered a greater sense of belonging to the natural environment among students, teachers, and the broader educational community. The study concludes that context-specific eco-pedagogical strategies are highly effective in promoting environmental sustainability in rural educational contexts, significantly contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly climate action (SDG 13) and life on land (SDG 15).
