Tipo de redes sociales en Internet y su uso en materia político-electoral

The purpose of this paper is to explain the main characteristics of social networks on the Internet used by people who are engaged in politics and hold a public office, showing the main uses they have and how to identify, whether they are created specifically to meet the functions of the office, a candidacy, or if they are dedicated to disseminate information sporadically or share personal activities and interests. The above highlights the challenges, risks and advantages for those who use them to generate content to guarantee their right to free expression and information, as well as for the people who receive it in use of their right to be informed in order to make decisions, guide their vote and, if applicable, evaluate their candidacies or popular representatives.
