This paper, presented at the permanent seminar "Protagonists of Legal Thought," aims to outline the life and work of the renowned German professor Claus Roxin, the most important criminal lawyer of the last 100 years, who recently passed away at the age of 93. His contributions to criminal law, his academic output, and the worldwide importance of his work, as well as the influence, over the past sixty years of his thinking in academia and its application in the courts, allow us to visualize his intellectual greatness, personal quality, and generosity. His kind smile and simplicity were captivating. With infinite gratitude to the professor for his legacy, we say that today criminal law is in mourning.
