The Role of University Innovation Hubs in Promoting Tech-Driven Student Startups: A Case Study of Limkokwing University of Creative Technology

This study examines the role of university innovation hubs in fostering the growth of technology-driven student startups within developing contexts, with a particular focus on Limkokwing University Sierra Leone. As higher education institutions adapt to the demands of the digital economy, innovation hubs have become pivotal in promoting creativity, entrepreneurship, and technological problem-solving. The research investigates how the Innovation Hub at Limkokwing supports ideation, mentorship, resource provision, and venture acceleration for aspiring student entrepreneurs. Employing a mixed-methods approach, the study will collect quantitative data through structured questionnaires and qualitative insights from interviews with hub staff, student entrepreneurs, and faculty mentors. Statistical analysis using SPSS will be applied to identify patterns and assess the correlation between student engagement in the hub and their entrepreneurial advancement. The findings are expected to yield evidence-based recommendations for enhancing university-based innovation ecosystems and guiding national policies aimed at nurturing youth-led tech entrepreneurship. Ultimately, the study seeks to contribute to both academic discourse and policymaking in the context of Sierra Leone’s pursuit of digital transformation and sustainable development.
