DEVELOPING STUDENTS' REFLECTIVE SKILLS THROUGH THE METHOD OF CREATING ALGORITHMS IN MATHEMATICS LESSONS

This article describes a study aimed at developing reflection skills in mathematics lessons of 12th-grade students using the “algorithm construction method”. The aim of the study was to teach students complex mathematical topics using understandable algorithms and provide them with the opportunity to reflect on their own after each lesson. The article presents the results of practical work carried out on specific lesson topics (e.g. complex numbers in trigonometric form, use of integrals and derivatives). It was noted that the students’ thinking and self-analysis skills improved thanks to reflection sheets, algorithm maps and feedback. It was proven that students’ active participation in the learning process and their own assessment of their own work play an important role in the development of their metacognitive abilities. The results of this study will help teachers to use effective methods in teaching mathematics and increase students’ independence in achieving learning goals. In addition, the methods proposed as a result of the study can become a practical tool for any subject teacher to use to improve
students’ academic performance.
