Teaching Numbers and Calculations to Grade 5 Students in the Direction of Developing Mathematical Communication Skills

Mathematical communication is carried out during mathematics lessons. Through communication, students discuss and argue mathematically in order to present their thoughts and perspectives on a mathematical problem. In teaching Numbers and Operations with the aim of developing mathematical communication competence for Grade 5 students, the focus is on concept formation, rule acquisition, and problem solving. Teachers design appropriate learning activities so that students have opportunities to develop mathematical communication competence.
