Promoting Assessment: Teachers' Annotations On Task-Based Language Evaluation
This study explored the challenges faced by teachers in conducting task-based language assessments. Employing a phenomenological research design, it aimed to understand the experiences and perceptions of eight participants. The emerging themes regarding positive experiences included promoting learning autonomy and stimulating the integration of language skills. Conversely, themes related to negative experiences encompassed managing mixed-ability learners and ensuring prompt submission of outputs. In addressing the challenges of conducting task-based language assessments, participants highlighted strategies such as providing constructive feedback, utilizing clear and effective rubrics, and offering precise linguistic terminology. Additionally, insights related to educational management included the incorporation of differentiated instruction, the importance of enhancing students’ conversational skills, and the necessity of ongoing professional development. These themes suggested that integrating these practices could help teachers create more effective and meaningful learning experiences for their students. Furthermore, the findings offered comprehensive data that could inform future research with a similar scope.
