Columbia scabra Candolle 1903

Columbia scabra Candolle (1903: 368). Type (lectotype, designated here):— VIETNAM. Tonkin, 08 February 1889, Balansa 3964 (G! [G00356892]; isolectotypes BR! [BR0000025289022]; P! [P06708659], [P06708660]). [= Colona floribunda (Wall. ex Kurz) Craib (1925b: 189)] In the protologue, the specimen Balansa 3964 is cited as type of Columbia scabra, without specifying the reference herbarium. Analysing the herbaria where the Balansa’s collection is kept (Stafleu & Cowan 1976 –1988: 107, 286), four duplicates of Balansa 3964 were found in the herbaria BR, G, and P. For this reason, in accordance with Art. 9.3 of the ICN, is designate here the specimen G00356892 as the lectotype of C. scabra by choosing the best-preserved and complete specimen.
