Colona serratifolia Cavanilles 1798

Colona serratifolia Cavanilles (1798: 47) ≡ Columbia americana Persoon (1806: 66) nom. illeg. ≡ Columbia serratifolia (Cav.) Candolle (1824: 512) ≡ Colona serratifolia var. normalis Kuntze (1891: 82). Type (lectotype, designated here):— PHILIPPINES. Luzon Island, Laguna, Los Baños, 1792, Née s.n. (MA! [MA-01-00475561]; isolectotypes MA! [MA-01-00475560], [MA-01-00475562], [MA-01-00475563]; SEV! [SEV-H775]). Cavanilles (1798) cited the specimen Née s.n. as type, without specifying the reference herbarium. Analysing the herbaria where the original Née’s collection is kept (Stafleu & Cowan 1976 –1988: 705), were found five duplicates in MA and SEV associated to Colona serratifolia. For these reasons, in accordance with Art. 9.3 of the ICN, is designate here the specimen MA-01-00475561 as a lectotype, by choosing the best-preserved and complete specimen.
