Active Fiber Loop (AFL) in femtosecond laser FemtoLux 30 – Innovations in Material Micromachining

Femtosecond lasers have proven effective in the field of material micromachining, delivering precise and high-quality processing across a wide range of materials. To achieve optimal results and demonstrate the capabilities of femtosecond lasers, the machining process must be optimized for each specific material. Given the diversity of materials—including glasses, ceramics, metals, and polymers—the limited flexibility of some laser sources can pose a challenge. Recent developments in femtosecond laser technology have addressed this by introducing innovations such as Active Fiber Loop (AFL) technology. AFL enables not only flexible burst-mode operation but also wide tunability in pulse duration, thereby broadening the range of applicable materials and processes. This study introduces AFL technology and demonstrates its benefits for material micromachining by integrating it into the industrial-grade FemtoLux 30 laser.
