Abstract

This paper explores the modern Bangla poem “Palanor Poth Nei” (No Way to Escape) by Hasan Nashid, focusing on its socio-political undertones and its place in the continuum of modern Bangladeshi poetry. Through an analysis of the poem’s language, structure, symbolism, and context, the study demonstrates how Nashid challenges state-level corruption, injustice, and systemic violence. The poet’s use of direct speech, minimal ornamentation, and free verse reflects a modernist approach that prioritizes message over form. By comparing Nashid’s poem with works by Rudra Mohammad Shahidullah, Subhash Mukhopadhyay, and Nirmalendu Goon, the paper situates the poem within the larger protest-poetry tradition. Ultimately, “Palanor Poth Nei” stands out as a powerful expression of civic resistance and moral urgency in the face of national decay. The poem demands not passive escape, but active confrontation, making it a compelling example of modern Bangla poetic protest.
