Psychological Counselling for the Employees and their Perception towards Information Technology with reference to IT And ITES Companies in Chennai

Abstract: Life is fraught with stress, anxiety and challenges. When one feels uncomfortable or overwhelmed with these challenges, he / she can talk to a professional in a completely confidential setting. This process is called counseling. Counseling results are more favorable when clients understand what to expect from the process. Counseling describes how a person functions effectively or ineffectively in one or more of the following dimensions of life: need satisfaction, stress and the coping processes, developmental task attainment, social contact and interpersonal relationship skills and other personal or characteristic attributes. It then discusses the major problems that can impede the effective functioning of individuals. Counseling also illustrates at length that individuals who are functioning effectively usually (1) satisfy their needs in appropriate ways, (2) deal with pressure effectively, (3) handle their emotions as well as emotional reactions effectively, (4) learn tasks that are appropriate to their developmental stage, (5) have meaningful social interactions and interpersonal relationships and (6) display other positive attributes. This research shows how the employees are stressed out and whether the psychological counseling is required for them. We aim to find the need of psychological counseling for employees of both the genders and their perception towards it. This study focuses on a huge challenge for the organizations to maintain a stress-free yet motivated and capable workforce. The information has been gathered from 380 ITES companies located in Chennai. And it is found that there is no significant difference among psychological counseling related to stress employees perceive that it releases stress rather than remedy for personal issue. Keywords: Counseling, Psychological Counseling, Emotions, Relationship Skills
