A Greek from Kition named Peison or Peithon as Pupil of Panaetius and no Roman Aristocrat Piso (Phld. Ind. Stoic. Col. 74)

The article confirms recent doubts about the identification of a Peison (Piso) mentioned in a list of pupils of the Stoic Paenetius with the Roman historian and politician Lucius Calpurnius Piso Frugi or another Roman Piso (Phld. Ind. Stoic. col. 74). A new reading (based on the virtual replacement of a sottoposto) shows that the person mentioned in the papyrus came from Kition. His name was either Peison or Peithon and he was obviously a Greek, not a Roman.
